As a child, a bowl of cereal was always my breakfast of choice. Actually, it was my choice for any meal. Back then, I had a major, major, major sweet tooth and was naturally drawn to Kid’s cereals such as Cini Minis, Frosties, you name them. Accompanied with fresh milk and a good Disney movie and I was the happiest kid on earth. Little did I know that some good old oatmeal could be just as delicious!

In my teenage years I became naturally body-conscious. So my beloved sugar-loaden cereals were replaced by scrambled eggs and one or two rolls. Very soon I realized that I did not feel my best with it. In desperate need for a healthy but still satisfying breakfast, I thought back on what I loved as a child. Usually, the stuff you like as a kid is the best for you (except the sweets maybe) since you are not so influenced by the outside world so much.
Of course, I would not go back the very sugary cereals I liked back then. Oats seemed to be the best choice as they are often recommended by fitness experts and nutrionists alike. Also they give you great variety and keep boredom at bay. After a lot of trial and error, I can now proudly say that I perfected the morning oatmeal game! And since so many people have requested the recipe, I decided to share it.
Get ready to wake up every morning excited about breakfast!
